Baghdad and Turkey: The Gap Widens

RAND Corporations’ F. Stephen Larrabee gives a wonderful breakdown of the Iraqi-Turkish dynamic in this interview, part of the three part series, which discusses similar topics to one of my earlier posts. Particularly with the amazing decay of Turkey-Syria relations over the recent moths, it’s easy to forget that the Turkey-Iraq relationship is also in a downward spiral. Larrabee discusses many important issues that impact the relationship between Iraq and Turkey, the Kurdish Issue and the danger of conflict over water, but also debunks the historical/civilizational argument of a new Ottoman/Qajar fight over the Fertile Crescent.

Very good read for anyone interested in these issues.
